This is a genuine military US forces (POV Privately Owned Vehicle) in Europe license plate set. Found on cars of the 50s-60s era.  These plates were purchased from an elderly gentlemans' large collection of foreign plate sets, years ago and these beauties are in extremely fine condition. These genuine plates are made from heavy aluminium and have raised alpha-numeric characters. Front and rear plates measure 12" X 5"  They are as found and have not even been properly cleaned. They will be better than the pictures indicate with little damage or distortion, even around the mounting holes!  They are almost ready to be mounted on your collector motorcar as is! I utilized a similar, matched set on my 1955 Jaguar MK-VIIM saloon and believe the plates actually helped sell the car a few years ago. My Jag was sold to a real Jaguar enthusiast from Denmark. Wouldn't these be perfect on your prized Allard or Alvis motorcar? US servicemen also mounted them on older VW's. Your car deserves this great finishing touch? Get them now as matched pairs are getting harder and harder to find. Have you priced the cost of any matching sets  in ANY condition lately?

Your reward for final cleanup/detailing is... FREE shipping!

Is this the Lamborghini URUS?

Sat, 30 Jul 2011

Is this Aventador with Veyron wheels the Lamborghini Urus in the making? What is the Lamborghini Urus, you may ask? Regular readers will know that back at the time when we were hearing that the replacement for the Murcielago would probably be called the Jota (yes, we got the name wrong but all the other details were right) a contact at Lamborghini told us they were working on a super Aventador (as it is now called) aimed at taking out the new Enzo when that arrives (the Ferrari F70).

How Porsche will be integrated into VW

Fri, 20 Nov 2009

By Georg Kacher Motor Industry 20 November 2009 12:32 Although Porsche won't be a fully integrated member of the Volkswagen group before mid-2011, the sports car maker can even at this early point in the merger no longer make independent strategic decisions. After all, Martin Winterkorn has effectively been appointed head of the Porsche SE Holding which in turn employs the Porsche AG chairman Michael Macht.  With a takeover as costly and complicated to fund as this one – all in all, VW will have to fork out a staggering €16 billion to absorb the latest family member – it is only logical that the new owner wants to get the restructuring process going asap. Overnight, Porsche has become easily VW's most expensive brand. How VW will integrate PorscheTo protect and eventually enhance its value, the powers in Wolfsburg will leave no stone unturned to rearrange the product portfolio, to streamline R&D, to shake up purchasing and production, and to ensure a variety of synergies which are estimated to range from €500m to €750m per year.

Bob Bondurant at 80

Fri, 26 Apr 2013

Last fall, as we waited for our turn to partake in a braking drill at Bob Bondurant's driving school in Arizona, a black Cadillac CTS-V coupe came screaming out of the facility's parking area and onto the tarmac where we sat. The driver hustled the big two-door around a tight autocross course at a startling pace, though he likely would have been faster had he avoided some of the smoky, sideways stuff. Our instructor, Johnny O'Connell, grinned, “I guess it's good to be the boss.” Bondurant -- who turns 80 on Saturday -- started racing an Indian motorcycle as a teenager.
