 This is a special thermostat for the 1955, 1956, and 1957 Thunderbird 312 and 292 'Y' Block V-8's.

These cars had very limited air exchange through the engine compartment and were prone to over heating problems. 

This thermostat has an extra large throat for added water flow through the system.  Temperature set is 170 F - This is just below the 3/4 quarter mark on most gauge set ups for this year range. 

Item is new - an over stock from a recent restoration.  Item includes gaskets.

A frugal new 1.0-litre SIDI three-cylinder turbo petrol engine will go on sale in the Vauxhall Adam city car in 2014, following its debut at next month’s 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. The new low-emissions unit – a rival to Ford’s 1.0 Ecoboost engine in the Fiesta and Focus – will deliver “impressive fuel economy and CO2 emissions significantly lower than 100g/km”, according to Vauxhall. Latest news: what Magna's deal means for GM Europe By Tim Pollard Motor Industry 29 May 2009 19:31 Canadian parts giant Magna this afternoon struck an agreement in principle to buy stricken GM's European arm, Opel and Vauxhall. The agreement has not yet been confirmed publicly and is still in the early phase, but brings to an end an uncomfortable round of talks in the past 48 hours which saw a spat between American negotiators and European politicians, and Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne walking away from the table.Once sealed, the deal must first be approved by the German government, which is to provide interim funding to the new owners. Volvo wants to derive economies of scale from a new front-wheel-drive architecture called SPA, for Scalable Platform Architecture. The redesigned XC90 crossover due in 2014 will be the first to use the architecture. SPA was designed for a new family of four-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines that Volvo will begin using on existing models next fall.
