This is a pair of NOS choke tubes which were used exclusively on the 1956 and 1957 Ford and Thunderbird dual quad intake manifolds. These tubes are inserted into the holes on the bottom of the intake. They allow heated air to pass to the choke assemblies on the carburetors which allows the carburetors to come off of high idle as the engine warms up. These choke tubes were used only on the factory 1956 and factory 1957 dual quad intakes and are a different length than the ones used on the 1956 and 1957 Ford and Thunderbird single 4V, cast iron intake manifold. This isn’t the first time Hyundai has had a spot in a Harrods window. Two years ago, when the Hyundai ix35 was fresh and new, Hyundai took over a window at Harrods to show off its compact SUV to the visiting shoppers, perhaps in the hope one or two would grab one for the Nanny.
