This is an original headlight door which was used on all 1956 and 1957 Thunderbirds as well as 1956 Ford passenger cars (except for the 1956 Ford Fairlane). The headlite door is in excellent condition with the alignment pin at the top and has been glass beaded and primed, ready to paint. It's a Ford original which has the Ford engineering part number "FoMoCo...FDR-13052-A" raised in the casting on the backside. Perfect for a replacing a missing, cracked, or warped door and for a concours restoration! Payment is expected within 10 days of the close of the auction. After all, the Defender is as iconic a 4×4 as you can get, enough to imbue it with coolness and desirability by right. True, as a fast cruiser the Defender would struggle to hack it, but as an Urban Cruiser – where posing is more important than performance – it would do a fine job.

Fri, 08 Nov 2013The new VW Golf R (pictured) costs from £29,900 The best of the MK 7 Golfs – the new Golf R – arrived back in August ahead of its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show, with Volkswagen telling us it would go on sale in early 2014. But it’s actually on sale now, a few weeks early. At £29,900 (for the 3-door with 6-speed manual), the Golf R is a sensible price ( at least in comparison to VW’s truly silly price for the MK 6 Golf R Cabrio – which they subsequently dropped by more than £5k) and undercuts the similar Audi S3.
