This listing is for a set of original 1957 or 1958 Mercury front fenders. These fenders have been in storage in an old shed in Brooksville Florida for half a century. The fenders were bought new according to the deceased owner's son and were bare metal with no primer protective coating of any kind. They were never used and over the years they developed surface rust from sitting in Florida's humidity. I bought them about fifteen years ago with the intention of dipping them in acid to remove the surface rust but the plant that did this process closed in Tampa and I haven't found another dipping facility. The Ford metal was thin in those years and I would not risk sand blasting these. There is one small hole on the left lower dog leg that came about from sitting on the shed's rotten floor. I haven't seen one of these fenders since the 60's that wasn't rusted in the lower doglegs and around and above the headlight. I don't have to tell anyone how rare these parts are and I don't expect they will ever be reproduced aftermarket. I would prefer to sell these with local pickup. Shipping can be arranged but it will be pricey to securely package them for transport. To hell with shippers insurance because these parts can't be replaced. They can be picked up at my home in Wesley Chapel Florida which is twenty miles North of Tampa just off I-75 Exit 179 at SR-54. I do travel North to Michigan and Pennsylvania to visit family occasionally and arrangements could be made for me to take them North for a fee. Please ask any questions you may have before bidding or buying these parts.

Fiat 500L Trekking goes on sale: Price from £17,095

Tue, 25 Jun 2013

The Fiat 500L Trekkiing (pictured) is now on sale in the UK The Fiat 500L – Fiat’s 500 on steroids – went on sale back in December (and we’ve also had the 7-seat 500L MPW revealed), and now we get the rufty-tufty version of the 500L – the Fiat 500L Trekking – arriving in the UK, and costing from £17,095, just £700 more than the equivalent 500L without the butch bits. The 500L Trekking comes with Fiat’s Traction+, a clever traction technology that gives the 500L more grip on slippery surfaces, more rugged front and back treatments, bits of black plastic cladding and a set of 17″ alloys to make it look more suited to the boot sale car park than the regular 500L. Specification is based on the 500L Lounge – which means stuff like 5″ Touchscreen, Bluetooth, Hil Hold, electric door mirrors, Cruise, Climate, auto lights and wipers, electric windows and front fogs all come in the price.

With the promise of a new car to celebrate 50 years, Lamborghini is ramping up interest in its half century anniversary with a history and tease video. With 2013 seeing the 50th Anniversary of Lamborghini’s arrival as a maker of supercars, we have the promise of a new car to celebrate the occasion. Last month Lamborghini boss, Stephan Winkelmann, confirmed that Sant’Agata would be rolling out a new car to celebrate the 50th anniversary, but what we don’t yet know is what that new model will be.

Land Rover Freelander

Mon, 26 Jun 2006

Land Rover has released pictures of the new Freelander (LR2), due to be launched at the British Motor Show in July. Harder edged than its predecessor, the chiselled exterior has simpler surfaces that update the same overall styling theme. The profile of the new car is more dynamic, borrowing cues from Range Rover Sport, though the stepped roofline has been diluted.
