Tata says hello with the Tata Nano Europa

Wed, 04 Mar 2009

The Tata Nano Europa - expected to come to Europe as a sub £5k car [ad#ad-1] Tata has had a pretty torrid time of late, what with problems in India and the decimation of the world car markets, which has badly affected sales of its recently acquired Land Rover and Jaguar marques. But as we reported last week, they have just landed a huge contract to supply Jaguars and Land Rovers to the Chinese, which will ease problems at JLR, and now they’re on a world-domination cheapest-car quest with the Nano Europa. The Nano Europa is the version of the little Tata that is going to be launched in Europe, and has just previewed at Geneva 2009.

Kia's Forte Super Bowl ad features violent android lady

Fri, 01 Feb 2013

There's no Jimmy Cliff or Flaming Lips in Kia's Super Bowl ad for the new Forte, but we can't help thinking they're the second company this week to miss out on co-opting seminal New Jersey punk outfit the Misfits' “We Are 138.” While attaching the song to the unveiling of Ferrari's new F138 was a no-brainer from a numerically synergistic standpoint, the track's poppy brutality and ominous query, “Is it time to be an android, not a man?” dovetails perfectly with the rise-of-the-sexy-machines theme of the Kia clip. Clearly, the android in this spot -- portrayed by former Miss USA Alyssa Campanella -- has the upper hand over the poor schnook oiling up the new Forte with his greasy mitts. We can't help thinking the whole ad would've been better if the Misfits' original pint-size vocal dynamo Glenn Danzig had been involved somehow.

Caterham creates next car online

Wed, 05 Nov 2008

By Ben Whitworth Motor Industry 05 November 2008 10:08 Caterham has turned to cyberspace to design its next model – the low-volume carmaker is calling on fans around the world to log onto a bespoke website to submit their ideas and designs for every aspect of the new Caterham, before ultimately voting on what makes it to the final vehicle. The website – www.splitwheel.com - will act as a forum, hosting blogs, articles and what Caterham calls ‘a Wikipedia-style user-edited knowledge base’ to turn user input into a workable vehicle design. A comprehensive voting system that covers all aspects of the car will then be initiated, and once the final specification is agreed a prototype will be produced with initial production slated for 2011.
