Up for auction are GM original door arm rest mounting plates for 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air convertible or 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air 2 door hardtop. 1955 and 1956 Chevrolet are different. These mount to the door itself and provide a mounting for the arm rests on a '57. The plates are in good condition free of dents and tears in the metal with light rust as shown. Owner delight with import vehicles is falling, and Detroit 3 brands are more appealing than European and Asian rivals for the first time in 13 years, according to a study measuring owner enthusiasm and satisfaction. The biggest improvement in owner appeal was made by high-performance models from Ford Motor Co. and General Motors Co., J.D.

The future of specialty carmaker Saleen Inc. is getting a little clearer: Most of the company was sold to a Michigan group last week after being on the block since November. An entity called MJ Acquisitions, which owns parts and engine companies in Michigan, bought Saleen’s performance street-car program, supercharger and aftermarket business from Los Angeles private-investment firm Hancock Park Associates.
