Jaguar Land Rover factory closure

Jaguar Land Rover are to close one of their production facilities in the Midlands JLR unions have already brokered a deal to ensure no job losses in the short term, but JLR are committed to rationalising their manufacturing across just two plants in the UK, instead of the existing three. The decision will be made about which plant to close in the next eighteen months. The most likely scenario is that JLR will close Solihull – which currently produces Land Rovers and employs 5000 people – and concentrate Land Rover production at Halewood.

Former Chevrolet Volt chief takes helm at Fisker

One of the key architects of the Chevrolet Volt is taking the helm of Fisker Automotive. Tony Posawatz, a veteran General Motors executive, has replaced former Chrysler CEO Tom LaSorda as chief executive of Fisker. LaSorda had just taken over as CEO in February, after joining the company in late 2011.

British Motor Show Axed

The British Motor Show - Cancelled for 2010, and probably permanently Well, I suppose it’s not really a great surprise, but it’s still sad to see the demise of the British Motor Show. The SMMT (organisers of the British Motor Show) announced this lunchtime that the 2010 show has been cancelled. They stated that this was due to the crisis in the car industry at present and the ongoing world financial crisis.
