Video: Yasushi Nakamuta on Mazda 3's 'unique' design process
Wed, 03 Jul 2013It may be leaden with PR-talk but this short presentation by Yasushi Nakamuta, Mazda's director of advanced design studio at the press unveiling of the new Mazda 3 in Melbourne is still worth a couple of minutes of your time. But while the 3 is undeniably attractive we can't help but feel that the 'unique' design process Nakamuta describes (which appears wholly conventional to us) has resulted in little more than a thoroughly normal product. We've seen the first TF LE500 models at Longbridge and we hear they will be in dealers soon, priced at around £16,000. What's changed since the last 2005 cars? These early pre-prototypes look virtually unchanged, but now come with a body-coloured hard-top, leather seats, air-con and improved interior plastics as standard.The cars pictured here have the new standard-fit glass rear screen, wind deflector, 16in alloys in shadow chrome or satin-black finish and the new piano black interior trim and revised dials.

Tue, 02 Jul 2013BMW are teasing the production version of the i3 with this silhouette We’re sure there will be a few surprises in store when BMW finally reveals the production version of the electric i3 at the end of July, but does it really warrant a tease? The small BMW i3 City Car has been around since BMW revealed it as a concept (and changed its name from Megacity Vehicle to i3) two years ago. And the production i3 will be revealed two years to the day from the arrival of the i3 concept, on 29th July.
