Bill Ford outlines 'Blueprint for Mobility' vision [w/video]
Wed, 29 Feb 2012Ford Motor Company Executive Chairman Bill Ford outlined a plan this week to develop connected cars to combat congestion on the roads in the future. His speech at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain was the first ever to be delivered at the annual communications industry event by an automotive industry executive. BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, the Volkswagen Group, GM Europe and much of Ford Europe all have their head offices within a few hours drive of the Frankfurt Messe, so it's only right that these automakers would bask in the limelight. But instead of competing for bragging rights for the most powerful cars in the range, this year's motor show afforded automakers an opportunity to showcase their environmental credentials and their latest 'innovative' powertrain technologies.

It's a typically modern rebranding: the graphic designers have zoomed in on the upper torso of the griffin, giving it a sharper, modern look and the word Vauxhall is now incorporated in the badge.The company's grille-wide V front end will be abandoned, the new grille preferring an Opel-style roundel, enlarged and sitting slap bang in the middle of the grille.
