1959,1960 Chevy Impala Cruise Control Kit For The Big Block "348" Std Or Auto on 2040-parts.com
Hanover, Ontario, Canada
GM first introduced cruise control in its Chevy Line-up in either late 1959 or early 1960 as a dealer installed or factory option. Since I have a near identical cruise set-up installed in my '61 Impala, I can guarantee you how well, smooth & efficient this technology works. I assure you it is simply not for show. You are bidding on a part original, part reproduced 1959 & 1960 Chevrolet, Impala, Biscayne, Bel Air, SS, complete cruise control Kit which were originally produced by GM/Perfect Circle. This Kit is for the Big Block V8 engines, 348, 409 Please note the generator mounting bracket, the throttle rod & the regulator or "brain" mounting brackets are very different for the small block & big block engines. The regulator or "brain" mounting brackets were cast using bronze. I have filed & sanded them, however for show quality they could be cadmium plated, or...... you could polish, chrome or simply paint them. The interior cruise controller or housing assembly was cast in aluminum & it will need to be painted to match the interior of your car. You may want to have the reproduced controller dial, nut, button & escutcheon chromed as well. For perfection, these pieces will require further sanding & polishing. The generator bracket & throttle rod are steel & were made from the originals. The wiring harness is a reproduction (automatic tranny only). If you have a standard transmission please let me know & I will provide the required adapter wire. Two of the three cables were reproduced by a professional cable shop. The controller to the regulator cable was reproduced using original components. You will also receive a copy of the necessary Template required to cut out your interior side molding along with complete installation instructions for this Kit. Please note the Regulator or "brain" had been road tested in my own car & was in proper working condition. You will not be disappointed. Full refund if not 100% satisfied! Shipping to anywhere within the continental USA will be a flat $69.00...... anywhere else including International Shipping will be more..... please contact me for a shipping quote. New Mercedes S Class to use Maybach badge on top models?
Wed, 23 Oct 2013Will the top-end Mercedes S-Class models get the Maybach badge? (S63 AMG pictured) Having tried to bring the Maybach badge back from the history books and build a car to compete with Rolls Royce, Mercedes finally admitted it hadn’t worked last year and called time on their Maybach adventure. But having spent untold millions on reviving the Maybach name – and giving it public awareness – it seems Mercedes may not be prepared to shelve the Maybach name completely as there seem to be plans afoot to badge the extra long Mercede S Class with the Maybach badge.
Craigslist catch: 1986 Lotus Turbo Esprit
Thu, 14 Apr 2011For the masochistic car enthusiast--and many of us here at AutoWeek count ourselves among that breed--nothing is sure to tantalize and frustrate quite as nicely as a Lotus. Not just any Lotus, mind you, but a peaky, force-fed, emissions-saddled 1986 Turbo Esprit. The example shown here, http://detroit.craigslist.org/okl/ctd/2318628863.html, appears to be a fine specimen of Giguaro's wedgy Brit, and the rear-quarter decals indicate that this is a late HCi model--high-compression plus Bosch fuel injection.
