This is a a vintage 1961 Spyder Wood Rim Steering wheel manufactured in the UK and distributed by Circuit Motors, Ltd. My husband purchased numerous wheels back in 1961, and they have been in storage here for many years. Circuit Motors were neighbors of my father's business in London. I do not think these wheels are made anymore, so these are "one of a kind", as I understand it, prototype, of Circuit Motors of London in the early 60's.

This particular wheel measures 16 1/2" approx. edge to edge. As stated above, the hub on this steering wheel is very rusty. This is a very heavy wheel, one of the heaviest I had. I believe this was one of Circuit Motors first wheels as it has a Patent Pending No. APP 29667/60 imprinted on the metal part and states Reg. in Great Britain, No. 898788 again imprinted on the metal part. Spyder is also imprinted on the metal.

The wood on this wheel is in fairly good condition, considering it's age, some  minor scratches. Needs polishing I think. I didn't dare touch it. It's mostly the metal inbetween the wood that is kind of scratched.

This wheel has never been used, has been in storage.

As I have stated, the wheel is sold in an as is condition and I cannot accept returns. I am sorry I do not have more specific information as regards this wheel. If you have any questions please contact me prior to bidding.

The Opel Monza (1980s Monza pictured) will make a return at Frankfurt There was a time, for those not old enough to remember, when mainstream car makers produced big saloons and coupes. But no more. With very few (low-selling) exceptions, car makers like Vauxhall and Ford have given up their full-sized saloons and downsized, with SUVs of varying sizes now seen as the real future.

New Jaguar XJ Supersport Diesel coming?

Sun, 30 May 2010

The Jaguar XJ Supersport TDV8 - expect it in showrooms in 2011 We’ve known for quite a while that Jaguar Land Rover were going to start putting a new V8 diesel in to their cars. The 3.6 litre TDV8 which goes in the Land Rover is a very good lump (made by Ford at Dagenham) with some decent horses and a nice fat lump of torque. But the introduction by Jaguar of the 3.0 litre diesel and its subsequent introduction in to Land Rover’s cars meant the 3.6 litre’s days were numbered.

BMW M5 hits the beach at Pendine Sands (video)

Wed, 14 Dec 2011

BMW M5 playing on Pendine Sands BMW has taken the new M5 to Pendine Sands in Wales to kick up some sand and promote the 2012 London Olympics. Regular Top Gear watchers will be all too aware that Pendine Sands in Wales offers some spectacular driving prospects. Or at least it does if you have a couple of willing chaps with spades and a Range Rover ready to dig you out when you inevitably get stuck.
