This Very Nice Original 1962-63 Ford Falcon Radio (3TBD) Has Been Rebuilt And Restored. This Is The All Transistor Version Of The '62 Falcon Radio And It Fits And Looks The Same. It Plays, Sounds And Functions Fine All Around. Includes New Ivory Knobs, Front Mounting Nuts And All Original Wiring And Plugs So It's Ready To Install. This is a very nice restored 1962-63 Ford Falcon Futura and Sprint radio manufactured by Bendix (model 3TBD). It will also fit the '62 Falcon models and Ranchero and Squire wagons. Included are the front mounting nuts, new ivory knobs with the chrome insert and all original wiring and plugs so it is ready to install. Servicing of this radio included complete dis-assembly and a thorough cleaning and lubrication, new capacitors, a new output transistor sil-pad insulator and a new dial lamp. The metal chassis has been de-oxidized and looks fine. All of the mechanics function smoothly including the station presets, station selections and manual tuning. The radio plays and sounds very nice with excellent reception and sensitivity up and down the tuning scale with good tone and very strong volume. It should provide good service for a long time to come. Not only does the radio play well but it is in very nice cosmetic condition with bright shiny chrome on the bezel, polished ivory push buttons, a clear lens with crisp white numbering that has been redone and new knobs. There are a few small imperfections here and there as expected but overall the radio is very pleasing to the eye. Please take advantage of the zoom feature for a better view. The power and light wires have been labeled for your convenience. These radios are very hard to find in this very nice restored condition so if you want a great looking and playing original radio for your classic '63 or '62 Falcon or Ranchero then this is your opportunity. We really liked the Toyota FT-1, which caught us off guard in the best possible way when it emerged at the Detroit auto show. In fact, we liked Toyota's “spiritual pace car” enough to call it the most fun new thing on the floor -- and we're hoping the automaker's execs take notice. Reader Dennis Liu certainly noticed the car, which seemed rather familiar to him: He feels that, coincidentally or not, it looks a lot like the Bertone Mantide.

Ford speeds up effort to cut vehicle platforms

Ford Motor Co. is accelerating its One Ford global product development plan by reducing its target for vehicle platforms worldwide to nine from 11 previously, and by moving the target date up to 2013 from 2014, global marketing chief Jim Farley said Wednesday. "It won't be 11 platforms" as earlier planned, Farley said at the Automotive News World Congress.
