Ferrari 599 GTO
Thu, 08 Apr 2010The Ferrari 599 GTO is the third in an illustrious line of Gran Turismo Omologato models from Maranello. It may look like a lightly modified GTB Fiorano, but is, in fact, almost entirely new. The hood's prominent center bulge and aerodynamic wheel disks are a hat-tip to Ferrari's F1 cars, while the contrasting matte black roof and flying buttresses visually lower the center of gravity and break up the 599's mass.
Infiniti G to get Mercedes engine
Thu, 08 Apr 2010Infiniti’s volume line, the G series, will get a Mercedes-Benz engine as part the global alliance between Daimler AG and Renault-Nissan, the story AutoWeek blew wide open at the end of March. Carlos Ghosn, CEO of Renault SA and Nissan Motor Co., said the G will use a Mercedes inline four-cylinder from Daimler to improve fuel economy and cut emissions. He didn’t say when the engine would reach Infiniti production lines or indicate the extent to which it will replace Japanese-made four-cylinder and V6 engines used in the G sedan and coupe.
2013 Chevrolet Camaro SS gets 1LE track option
Tue, 27 Mar 2012Chevrolet is resurrecting the 1LE order code for the 2013 Camaro SS. It will turn the pony car into a dedicated track toy with an upgraded suspension, ZL1-based wheels and tires and a high-capacity fuel pump for handling 1g corner loads. The original 1LE was introduced in 1988, inspired by Pro-Am racing.
