1962 Pontiac 4 speed Console with console mounted Tachometer.  DISCLAIMER:  I have no idea if all the parts are 62, as the only part with number on it is the from plate with tach on it, and it is a correctly numbered 62 front plate made for factory tach mount (62 was the only year of console tach mount I believe).  I do not know if tach is an actual 62 tach.  This set came from an big dollar estate sale of 3 62 Pontiacs (2 GP, 1 Bonneville with dual 4 bl 4 bolt main built motor - sold) and was one of 3 consoles with sale (2 consoles in GP's are automatic, still in cars, complete, and available).  Bonneville was a bucket seat car and had hole for 4 speed shifter, but I do not know if deceased owner had made conversion of it or not. He was a 62 nut and had a trailer load of parts and 3 disassembled cars. WHAT YOU SEE IN THE PICTURES IS ALL YOU GET - IT IS ALL I HAVE. OE plastic underbody is not cracked or broken as far as I can tell.   Many of the small parts are missing, but the major parts are all there and in decent condition.  Most small parts can usually be scavenged from automatic consoles.  LOOK VERY CLOSELY AT THE PICTURES, AND ASK FOR SPECIFIC PICS OF ANYTHING YOU WANT TO SEE.    62 4 speed consoles with tachs are said to be the rarest of the rare.  You may never see another one for sale that is this complete.  It will be very well packed to protect it in a large box.  Questions:  541-480-9200

Call for reform over road repair funding

Fri, 06 Jun 2014

FUNDING patterns mean most road maintenance is being carried out in "less-efficient, cold and wet" times, a report from a Government spending watchdog has said. The current pattern of funding, combined with the need to spend money within the financial year, means that most maintenance work goes on between September and March, said the report from the National Audit Office (NAO). It went on: "Although this is less disruptive for road users, it is less efficient than carrying out the work at other times of year because materials can be more difficult to handle in cold and wet conditions, and daylight hours are shorter." The report went on: "As a result of the additional funding for emergency repairs, which is made available at the end of the financial year, almost all highways authorities need extra capacity from the market at the same time, which makes it less likely that they will get value for money." The NAO report said there was a "lack of predictability" over road spending adding that historically, local highway authorities spent more revenue on maintenance, but were now carrying out fewer routine activities such as clearing gullies which are essential to preventing water seeping into roads' sub-structure.
