More drivers skipping vital car servicing

NEW RESEARCH has revealed that more than one in three motorists (39%) on our roads are thinking of skipping their next service. This means that for nearly 13 million motorists, the MOT test could be the only time their vehicle undergoes any kind of safety inspection. According to the survey carried out on behalf of KwikFit, one in ten (10%) UK motorists confessed they ‘never’ check their tyres and nearly one in seven (15%) admit they are currently experiencing a problem with their brakes but are not actively looking to repair it.

The latest Porsche 911 GT3 boasts an all-new 469bhp 3.8-litre flat-six and is quicker than the legendary GT3 RS 4.0, but fans of this hardcore icon have voiced their concern over its new dual-clutch PDK gearbox and its steering (both the electric rack inherited from the 991-generation Carrera, and the new rear-axle steering).  Ahead of the 911 GT3's unveil at the 2013 Geneva show this week, CAR had exclusive access to the car, and to the man who headed the team that engineered it: Porsche's head of GT series production Andreas Preuninger. Car collector and artist makes you look twice

As with most artists, Louis Carvell simply sees the world differently than others, and his passion for cars and car collecting led him to create a thought-provoking (and clever) body of work he entitled: “Reincarnations: Car Parts ReBorn.” The photographic collages are of spare vintage-automobile parts inspired by, “the dream cars of the Eisenhower era,” Carvell said. “These pieces are art in and of itself. Initially, I photographed them [alone] against white, seamless.” Eventually, Carvell decided to expand and refine his concept and place the parts into surrealist tableaux, to give one pause to consider these objects outside their defined roles.
