“This is a very nice original dealer accessory "Bowtie" tachometer that was an optional accessory for 1964 Chevrolets. This tach is complete with the cup and swivel mount, bowtie emblem, and wiring harness. The dial is excellent with a bright chrisp dial. The lens is clean and free of cracks and damage. The chrome is very nice with great shine/reflection and pitting. This is a very nice original tach.”

This is an original Chevrolet accessory tachometer for 1964 Chevrolet V8 engines. This tachometer was offered as an accessory at the dealer for cars not originally equipped with a tach. Anything from an Impala to a Pickup could have this tach installed. These tachs are well known for being installed by Chevy dealers in high performance cars not originally installed with a tachometer. This not only added to the high performance mystic of the car but also helped reduce warranty  claims due to over revved engines. 

This tachometer is in very good condition as shown. The dial is clear and bright with excellent coloring. The lens is very nice with no cracks, chips, yellowing, or repairs. The front bezel is very nice with an excellent shine. The commonly missing Bowtie emblem is intact as shown.  The cup is also excellent with great shine and reflection and some pitting as shown. The original swivel mount foot is very clean and tightens down as it should and stays where it is set. The mounting foot is the 1964 only style which is curved.  The wiring is in very nice condition with original terminals intact as shown. The back of the tach is as clean as the front and is ink stamped APR 13 1964 as shown. This tachometer is the real deal and in very good shape.

This tach has been tested and works great. It zeros at zero and seems to be accurate. The needle moves smoothly through the dial with no sticking or hesitation. By Ben Whitworth Motor Shows 07 November 2008 09:00 Volkswagen’s sobriety took a back seat at the SEMA show in Las Vegas this week – it pulled the covers off a pair of muscle-bound Passat CCs, a racy 295bhp Tiguan and a grunty diesel Jetta aimed at cajoling the American market into turning its back on gasoline. The unambiguously named Performance CC – designed by Volkswagen’s California-based design centre – gets a shot in the arm from a three-stage turbo boost to its 2.0-litre TSI engine. In Eco mode you get a modest 222bhp and 236 lb ft of torque, GT mode hikes those outputs to 252bhp and 268 lbs ft, while the Full Power stage unleashes 311bhp and 313 lb ft.

Dodge Charger Super Bee is back for 2011

The Dodge Charger Super Bee is poised to make a tire-smoking comeback in 2011. Chrysler revealed the future product nugget in a presentation detailing its first-quarter earnings this week. No further information was immediately available, though the company said the Super Bee will arrive in 2011.

BMW X1 confirmed for United States

One of the worst-kept secrets in the car world has been confirmed: The BMW X1 is coming to the United States in 2011. It likely will come with rear-wheel and all-wheel drive and a variety of gasoline and diesel engines. BMW said it would announce the powertrain specifics closer to the launch as it factors uneven fuel prices in the United States.
