1964 Ford Galaxie Tubular Lower Control Arms Air Bags on 2040-parts.com
Peru, Illinois, United States
This kit was developed to replace the stamped steel lower control arms for 1964 Galaxies. I bought these when I was putting air bags on my car. This kit also eliminates the lower control arm front offset eccentric crank arm that causes the Galaxies to wander at highway speeds. These were somewhere around $800 when new. Here's what I've learned about them. Guys with coil springs say they raised their cars 1 - 1 1/2" higher. This happened to my car. I had air ride on the car and didn't like it,so I changed back to coil springs. I did notice the car was about 1 1/2" higher than I wanted. But I also have a 4-link in the rear with adjustable coil overs which are adjusted with the ride height a little low. I also have rack and pinion and did not like the way the car handled. What the exact cause was, I don't know, but the steering seemed a little stiff. The guys on the Galaxie forums did not complain about the steering when they used the factory steering arms, maybe that was the problem with my car. As shown in the pictures, it comes with the front bolt (no washers, re-use your old ones), the rear lower control arm bolts are re-used.
When I had air bags on the car, I did like the way the car sat with the air out of the bags. It was the ride I hated, which is why I got rid of them. BUT, when I changed back to coil springs, I cut 2 coils to get the car lower, the car's anti-sway bar hit the lower control arm (another complaint on the Galaxie forums). I had a large 1 1/8" anti-sway bar which added to the problem. So, buy these if you're wanting to try air bags, and have some experience with front suspensions. They were not for me. If you're going for a "Gasser" style look, these will get you there. No reserve after the opening bid, I just want to get rid of them. Any questions, you can call me for more information at 815-223-3173. I'll return calls when I can. Remember, shipping will be a little expensive. Peugeot 508 Estate (SW) ‘AllRoad’ Spied
Wed, 09 Feb 2011Peugeot 508 SW 'Allroad' We’re only just starting to see the Peugeot 508 – the replacement for both the 407 and 607 – hitting roads in Europe, but already we’re starting to see evidence that Peugeot aren’t going to be settling for just the Saloon and the Estate. It looks like Peugeot are intending having a crack at Audi and their Allroad A6 if the spy photo we grabbed is anything to go by. But if this is 4WD – and it almost certainly is – what sort of 4WD is it running?
