OUR GREAT FITTING FIBERGLASS FASTBACK TRUNK LIDS JUST GOT BETTER. TAKE A LOOK AT OUR NEW UNDERSIDE. IT IS NOW COMPLETELY FINISHED WITH NO FIBERGLASS FIBERS SHOWING. THE BEST NEWS IS THAT THE PRICE HAS NOT INCREASED. YOU GET AN IMPROVED TRUNK LID THAT REQUIRES LESS PREP WORK AT THE SAME GREAT PRICE! This all hand laid fiberglass trunk lid with built in spoiler and spoilered end caps has been developed exclusively for K.A.R. Auto Group. We developed this trunk lid using a Ford original trunk lid as a pattern. You will see our proto- type with the black steel under side and fiberglass top side. You will also see weatherstrip attached to the trunk lid during development to insure our mold allowed for weatherstrip clearance. Many trunk lids on the market did not allow for weather strip clearance and the trunk lid sticks up higher than the end caps. You will also see the final product, a trunk lid that fits an all original body panel Mustang. During development we learned that all 1965 and 1966 Mustangs did not have exactly the same clearance or gaps between the trunk lid and the quarter panels and trunk lid and trunk filler panel at the rear window. We measured 5 different 1965/1966 Mustangs in our showroom and no two were exactly the same. Close but not identical. There could be from an 1/8 inch to 1/4 inch difference between cars. Our trunk lid will fit any original body panel Mustang but slight variances can exist. The next time you go to a Mustang show check out the trunk lid fit on 1965/66 Mustangs and you will see they vary. If a Ford original trunk lid fits your Mustang than this fiberglass trunk lid will fit. It is metal reinforced at all mounting points. Stock mounting hardware can be used. There is the built in recess for the trunk lock cylinder but the installer must drill the mounting hole. The end caps come with the mounting studs but they are purposely not installed. This is to allow the installer flexibility in adjusting the end caps to fit an individual car. All body shops have the materials to install the studs as they fit the trunk lid. The end caps can also be installed using high strength body shop adhesives. This has worked well for us. Your stock trunk lock mechanism and trunk hinges can be used. This trunk lid mounts exactly like a steel trunk lid. If you have seen K.A.R.'S STE Mustangs featured in Mustang Monthly magazine you will have seen our trunk lid on these cars. All hand laid fiberglass trunk lids require more prep work prior to painting than a steel trunk lid. There can be minor low spots or a slightly textured edge. Our trunk lids require less prep work than most that on the market today. YOU WILL SEE FIBERGLASS TRUNK LIDS WITH END CAPS BEING SOLD BY OTHER MANUFACTURERS FOR $495.00 TO $595.00 VERSUS OUR BUY IT NOW PRICE OF $395.00. 2013 Nissan LEAF updated
Wed, 21 Nov 2012Nissan has updated the LEAF EV in Japan for 2013 with better range, less weight and a new LEAF S entry-level model. Revealed in Japan – but likely to come to the UK from 2013 when the LEAF starts rolling out of Nissan’s Sunderland factory – there are significant upgrades to the powertrain which result in both less weight and better range. Nissan has had a play with the electric powertrain and made it both smaller and lighter with a new motor that uses 40 per cent less dysprosium (a rare earth metal) than before, and comes in 30 per cent smaller and 10 per cent lighter, and a new streamline battery case and a few other tweaks drops the LEAF’s weight by 80kg.
China to boost electric cars with 30% Government EV fleet
Sun, 20 Jul 2014The BYD E6 EV (pictured) will benefit from China’s push on EVs The UK government has just announced its commitment to use electric cars for its own vehicles in an effort to boost the take-up of EVs, but China is going even further. China has ordered government officials to start buying electric cars (that means BEVs, plug-in hybrids and hydrogen fuel cell cars) in a big way, with instructions that 30 per cent of government cars must fall in to the ‘New Energy’ category by 2017, and an even higher percentage going forward. The aim is to cut pollution, and China expects to have 5 million New Energy cars on the road by 2020 and it is urging it government agencies and some city governments to start buying New Energy vehicles from Chinese makers like BYD and SDAIC, but also instructing them to build more charging stations and supporting infrastructure.
