Mazda 2 facelift (2010) first picture

Mon, 23 Aug 2010

While it's not the best supermini out there (Ford's excellent Fiesta currently occupies that throne in CAR's world view), we've always had something of a soft spot for the second-generation Mazda 2, the principal reason being its non-subscription to the usual theory that bigger is better. The front end has received attention from the stylist's pen in order to bring it in line with Mazda's current line-up, and features new headlamps alongside a layered grille.

Quaker State offers cash reward for reaching 300,000 miles with its oil

Tue, 07 Jun 2011

If you're thinking of driving your car to the 300,000-mile mark, the maker of Quaker State oil will pay you as much as $3,000--as long as you use its oil. The oil brand on Monday launched the Quaker State Cash Back Program as part of its updated limited-warranty program. According to the company, the warranty is one of the first of its kind that follows the vehicle makers' recommendation for oil changes instead of its own.

£54k insurance fraud foiled by black box

Thu, 01 May 2014

A fraudulent £54,000 insurance claim following a crash involving a car and a lorry has been found bogus thanks to a black box device fitted to the car. Three passengers in the lorry claimed for personal injury damages after it was shunted at low speed by a Vauxhall Astra. However, the Astra was fitted with a telematics device that, when examined, revealed that due to the size and weight of the vehicles and the speed of the Astra, the claimed injuries were implausible.
