One Lap of the Web: Le Mans souvenirs, F1 in 360, and a BMW fit for a biker
Thu, 20 Feb 2014-- Collin Woodard was "that weird friend who was strangely committed to riding a motorcycle." Being the weird motorcycle-owning friend, however, can only get you so far until you start an influential motorcycle blog or start making sepia-toned hipster videos on expensive Canon 5Ds and wildly unreliable CB550Fs. Woodward needed a car, and boy did his friends have something to say about that! He looked at a Camry.
2015 Land Rover Defender WON’T look like DC100 Concept
Wed, 17 Oct 2012Gerry McGovern - Land Rover’s Design Director – has said the 2015 Land Rover Defender won’t look like the DC100 Concept. Most of the feedback Land Rover got was pretty positive, although there were comments from traditional Defender owners that the DC100 looked like a toy Defender and not the rugged icon they wanted. But it looks like those traditional buyers of the Land Rover Defender can stop panicking that their wheels of choice will be turned in to a style statement instead of a workhorse after Gerry McGovern - Land Rover’s Design Director – told CarAdvice that the 2015 Defender won’t look like the DC100 after all.
Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport hits 268 mph
Sun, 04 Jul 2010Bugatti is claiming a new production-car top-speed record with a combined two-run average of 267.9 mph (431.072 kph) with a new Veyron 16.4 Super Sport model, smashing the 253.76-mph record set by a standard Veyron 16.4 in 2005. It also betters the existing world-record mark of 256.23 mph (412.28 kph) established by Shelby SuperCars with its Ultimate Aero on a 12-mile stretch of road in Nevada in 2007. Confirming details of the attempt run under tight security at parent company Volkswagen's 13-mile Ehra-Lessien test track in late June, Bugatti says the new Super Sport set the record in the hands of its test driver, Pierre-Henri Raphanel, and under the auspices of officials from the Guinness Book of Records.
