Here's a very good condition original used pair of 1966-70 Mopar A, B, or C-body convertible to latch, handle section part. These have a cast in part # of 2520616, I believe. These were both re-chromed at a professional chrome shop a few years back and just never used. They are both crack -free, and nice straight pieces that could be installed in some latches that have these broken, badly corroded, or missing them. Be sure to put in that good bid today. Please note while chrome is shiny and these look overall very nice, they do have a little pitting on them still, mainly on the back side of the handles, that does not of course show most of the time when these are closed. Holes where pivot pin went into these all look good, and not all chewed out and egg-shaped like many of these get.
Brand:Orig Mopar, as used on 1966-70 A, B, and C-bodies Placement on Vehicle:Left, Right, Front Manufacturer Part Number:Handle is cast with a # 2520615, if I read it rt. Surface Finish:Shiny re-chromed finish, a few pits on back side. Interchange Part Number:Great for replacing just some damaged handle part Warranty:Yes Other Part Number:Nothing cracked, chipped, or repaired. Country/Region of Manufacture:United States

Up for your auction bids is this very good condition original pair of re-chromed 1966-70 Mopar A, B, or C-body convertible top latches handle sections.  I believe the # cast on the back side of these reads #2520615 (see close up picture of #s).  These are the parts of the latch that you lift to release, or pull down on to latch the top down to windshield header. These are an often- cracked or broken-off piece on these latches.  The holes (for pins) in it are often all badly-worn and egg-shaped also.  These holes (in my handles), for the most part, look nice and round still and not all worn out.

Featured convertible top latches handles were both re-chromed a while back and just never used since then.  The chroming is nice and shiny, smooth and deep.  Most looks great.  As these weren't totally pit-free pieces when chromed, there is a few pits / bubbles on the back side of the handle and some very fine pits in the ribbed areas, but not bad as these go. Still suitable pieces for a very nice car in my opinion.

Don't miss these convertible latch handle sections, if you lower (base) part of latch is good, but you perhaps have some handles that are broken off, badly worn, or badly corroded. Use mine instead! Put the two parts together and keep  your handles all Mopar and perhaps save some decent money too!  Be sure to put in that good bid today.  I'm opening these up at a lesser price than just the re-chroming cost for these rare to find pieces.  Thanks for stopping in to look and bid!

One of the motoren in the titular Bayerische Motoren Werkeis about to get smaller. How small, you ask? The three-cylinder in the cherry-red hatchback shown above is in fact one of BMW's legendary inline-sixes, albeit chopped in half with the proverbial Sawzall.

Concept Car of the Week: Mercedes T80 (1939)

Fri, 19 Sep 2014

In the decade before World War II, no other carmaker even came close to matching the combined dominance of Mercedes-Benz and recently founded Auto Union. Supported by Adolf Hitler's Nazi government, the two brands had grander plans to demonstrate Germany's technological supremacy. In August 1936, Auto Union engineer Ferdinand Porsche and race car driver Hans Stuck approached Wilhelm Kissel, chairman of Daimler-Benz, and presented a plan to build a car that would set a new land speed world record.

Retracing Steve McQueen's Los Angeles in his Jaguar XKSS

Mon, 21 Apr 2014

In 1958, Steve McQueen bought this Jaguar XKSS from a local TV personality who kept it parked in a studio lot on Sunset Boulevard. McQueen cajoled his wife Nellie into writing a check for $5,000 -- today around $40,000 -- and became the third owner of XKSS chassis No. 713, a car that had originally been imported a year earlier by Jaguar North America.
