This is a complete, rare original "1966 Mercury Comet Prelinimary Drag Specifications and NHRA Stock Car Classifications" dealer brochure and cover letter from the Lincoln /Mercury Sales Promotion Manager. The cover letter let Lincoln/Mercury dealers know about the new power, new transmissions and new NHRA classes that the '66 Comet would be eligible to run in. The dealer brochure is Mercury Form No. MC66-124 printed in 9/65. The 6 page fold out brochure covers the NHRA stock car section S and SA with the classes defined by engine to weight ratio. The Comet weight ranges for both manual and automatic transmissions are listed for the classes by power to weight ratio. The manual transmission gear ratios and RPO (Regular Production Option) and SO (Special-Order) axles which can be ordered from the factory are listed. The last page is a work form to estimate the power to weight ratio for any of the '66 Comet vehicles produced. The cover letter and dealer brochure are both 100% original and in excellent condition with no writing on any of the pages. The brochure does show some wear along the bottom edge. Vintage racer Anatoly Arutunoff in serious but stable condition
Thu, 10 Feb 2011Automotive enthusiast, vintage racer, rapscallion and country-boy bon vivant Anatoly Arutunoff is in serious but stable condition following an accident on Feb. 8 while reportedly being a Good Samaritan. Arutunoff, known as Toly to his friends, was on his way to the Sports Car Club of America convention in Las Vegas when he stopped to help a stranded driver along Interstate 40 in Amarillo, Texas.
Gesture-controlled Audi wins VDA Design Award
Wed, 25 Sep 2013The German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) has announced the winner of its 2013 Design Awards, which asked students from across the world to submit their final graduating projects completed between October 2011 and July 2013. Eric Leong from Sweden's Umeå Institute of Design, came in first place with his 'Audi Elite' project, earning himself €4,000. Leong's single-person vehicle can be controlled using the entire body through gestures and movements, and adapts to the needs of the driver, giving them more control.
GM Europe weeks from running out of cash

Speaking today (Tuesday 3 March), GM chief operating officer Fritz Henderson revealed that insolvency loomed, due to the plunge in European car sales and GM’s liquidity crisis in North America. He ruled out a swift cash injection from private investors, saying that no talks had taken place and that lengthy negotiations and due diligence would take too long.
