About 6 years ago, we found this outboard on the transom of a 1965 boat in a barn in Northern Ohio.
The condition of the engine and boat would suggest that neither had seen much use in the last 50+ years.
After replacing the spark plugs, providing a fresh fuel/oil mix and a new battery--to my amazement the engine started!
We used the boat for about 4 seasons and did nothing to the engine except having the lower end rebuilt (no documentation of work) and the rectifier replaced (that is not the problem, because the starting battery is still not charging) and I retained the original selenium rectifier as it tests good. Although it has not ran in over 2 years the new buyer can have the engine test run before buying.

Volkswagen to take full control of Porsche

Thu, 05 Jul 2012

Volkswagen Group's decision to take full control of Porsche Automobil Holding SE's carmaking business is seen as positive by analysts. VW said it has agreed to buy the remaining 50.1 percent of Porsche SE's automotive business that it doesn't already own for 4.46 billion euros ($5.54 billion), ending a seven-year takeover saga that divided two of Germany's most powerful families. The agreement means Volkswagen can now fully fold the Porsche automaking business into its stable of brands, which range from Audi and Bentley sedans to Skoda and Seat volume models and Ducati motorbikes.

When you think of American cities associated with the car it is Los Angeles of course that leaps first to mind, thanks mostly to Hollywood, and Detroit second. But New York turns out to have been vital in the history of car design, as I found researching an exhibition Cars, Culture and the City at the Museum of the City of New York as guest curator over the last few months, working with the museums curator architecture and design, Donald Albrecht. The show has just opened, on March 25.
