Gooding & Co. is set to auction what it claims is "America's most elegant automobile," a 1931 Duesenberg Model J by Murphy, at the company's 2011 Pebble Beach auction in August. Not to be confused with any run-of-the-mill Duesenberg Model J, this particular car is known as the Whittell Coupe after its owner, California playboy Captain George Whittell Jr.

The 2012 Toyota Yaris - the UK details We’ve been trailing the 2012 Toyota Yaris since the end of last year when Toyota in Japan unveiled the JDM Toyota Viz ( the Japanese version of the Yaris) and again a month ago with the unofficial Euro details. But now Toyota UK has decided – especially as the 2012 Yaris is starting to roll off production lines in Europe from today – that they may as well make the new Yaris official, give us some details and let us know exactly how much a new Yaris will now cost. The Yaris will come in four flavours of trim – T2, TR, SR and Spirit – although Toyota say that a full two thirds of sales are of the TR trim.

Road drainage problems increasing

ROAD DRAINAGE during the mid-summer heatwave was no better than in the early-year floods, according to 40% of drivers. A further 9% said drainage in June was even worse than during the winter downpours, the AA/Populus survey of more than 18,000 AA members showed. Most dissatisfaction with the state of the roads in mid-summer was shown by drivers in Yorkshire and Humberside, with 46% of them reckoning drainage was no better than during the winter.
