1967 Chevrolet Camaro Pre-Production Build Schedule

Pilot Car Line Specification. Norwood, Ohio –Los Angeles, Calif.

Every once in a while something comes along that catches your attention, but you say “ah, I’ll get it later”, only to find out you’ve missed a golden opportunity. This is one of those times.

Through the efforts of author Phil Borris and his 10 year journey to research the facts, and then produce what is becoming the Holy Grail of GM’s former assembly plant in Norwood, Ohio, ECHOS OF NORWOOD, (www.norwoodassemblyplant.com) here is a booklet that he located through a retiree who worked on the 1967 PILOT Program. It was recently provided to attendees of The Norwood Employee Reunion this past July. Since I was one of the invited guests who also displayed my 1969 L89 Camaro, I was lucky enough to receive one from Mr. Borris.

The information contained within this booklet first surfaced decades ago in the old United States Camaro Club (USCC), but since details of the early “F” car, the Camaro, was clearly not understood at that time, the USCC redacted many of the details.

BEFORE Chevrolets went into production, there was a pilot car; a car built by hand for fitment, ease of use for production line tools and many other reasons. In separate areas, these cars would be built, taken apart, re-fitted and more. Please read the first few pages as to the contents. It covers 49 NORWOOD-BUILT  “F-Body” Camaros and 10 LOS ANGELES built cars; 3 Camaros and 7 full size Chevrolets’ including the 427 SS Impala. In this  37-page, 5.5 x 8.5 booklet, you’ll find the specific cars, the options they were built with, production dates, delivery date, where they went and who at the dealer was to receive them! There are even personal, hand-written notes from 47 years ago.

This is a special offering for me since I was an attendee to the above event. So like all my booklets, this is a quality, professional re-production with 100lb bond cover and 25lb brilliant white content pages.

New Ford KA – best in class

Thu, 29 Jan 2009

Ford KA - the best drive in its class [ad#ad-1] The Ford launch we went to today for the new Fiesta ECOnetic also had the new Ford KA to play with, and although we did a review of the Ford KA recently, I had not had the chance to play. So it seemed too good an opportunity to miss, so a little blat was had. The original Ford KA launched to a sceptical world in 1996.

2012 Focus ECOnetic & Fiesta ECOnetic now even more frugal

Tue, 06 Sep 2011

2012 Ford Focus ECOnetic - now even more frugal If a little fairy from the future had come back in time, even as recently as the 1990s, and told you that a family sized Ford would have 100bhp and do more than 80mpg by 2012, you’d have laughed. But laugh no more – the 2012 Ford Focus ECOnetic average 83.1mpg and emits just 89g/km. Want something even more economical and even less emitting, where you can still have grown-ups in the back?

Subaru Cross Sport Concept Bows at Tokyo

Wed, 20 Nov 2013

With little fanfare Subaru showed two promising concepts at the Tokyo show, both based on iconic Subaru performance cars. The Cross Sport Design Concept is an SUV/wagon body that rides on BRZ mechanicals. Think of it as a BRZ wagon, offering the nimble tossability of the sporty BRZ coupe with the roomy practicality of a wagon.
