Offered are Motor's Crash Book Illustrations for the 1968 and 1969 Chevy II including the 1968 Nova 4-door sedan and the 1969 Nova Coupe.

Back in the 1950s, '60s and '70s, before computers came into use, body and repair shops would subscribe to Motor's Crash Book Illustrations and Motor's Crash Book Service, which helped them prepare estimates on body work after a car was crashed, hence, the name "crash book." Today, collectors like them because they identify lots of parts and show exploded views of how your car's body goes together. An exploded view shows each part separately in the order that they go together. Normally, an illustration will show how both bumpers are attached, the body panels, mouldings, roof, grille, radiator and related parts, front suspension, steering linkage and some have frame diagrams with dimensions that were used in those years to "pull out" a bent frame. There is no information about the engine, tires and interior. Illustrations were printed for all domestic makes and models.

Also, these illustrations are not intended to replace the use of a manual for repairs. These sheets are 8 1/2" x 11", and some may feel that these illustrations are too small to be helpful. Their intent is simply to inform you about your car, and some mechanically-minded persons might find them helpful in easy repairs. Some collectors use to them to check their vehicles for all factory-made mouldings, things like that.

Photos associated with this listing are from the first of four pages that you will receive (two sheets of paper, printed front and back) with a close-up of one of the vehicles featured so that you can see what an exterior view of a vehicle shows.

Areas covered in this set of illustrations are: exterior views (as shown in photo plus one more inside, that of the 1969 Nova Coupe), with body parts and mouldings identified as seen in photo; front bumper and grille exploded with parts identifed; front end sheet metal exploded with parts identified; rear bumper exploded, with parts identified; 4-door Sedan body panels exploded with parts identified; coupe body panels exploded with parts identified; front suspension and steering, shown in place, slightly exploded, with all parts identified; frame diagram and dimensions with arrows showing measurement points.

Taken from the introduction to Motor's  Crash Book Illustrations is this paragraph: "The illustrations contained in this manual ... portray assemblies and components as the automobile manufacturers portray them and serve a useful purpose in acquainting one with the relationship of each component with another. Because of limitations, the details of each component cannot always be portrayed. Therefore, all components are not always illustrated and occasionally, it is necessary to illustrate what is typical, rather than exact in detail." This means that Motor's did not always show exactly all the different components possible, but rather what was "typical" due to space limitations of these illustrations. So your vehicle may have different components than what are shown.

These pages are in good condition, showing few signs of use. There is some slight discoloration along page edges.

Your pages will come in an archival-safe, acid-free sheet protector. They will ship in a rigid cardboard Stay-Flat Mailer. Standard shipping is by First Class Mail with tracking number.

Lamborghini Estoque – still on?

Mon, 28 Sep 2009

Lamborghini Estoque spotted in Berlin The boys at Top Gear even got hold of the Estoque to show in the TG studio. They too were astonished at what Lamborghini has achieved. A four-door Lamborghini that looked like a Lamborghini instead of some hideously overblown caricature of the marque (did someone say Panamera?).

2012 Mercedes A-Class teased on video The 2012 Mercedes A-Class is being teased on video ahead of a Geneva 2012 debut in conjunction with a ‘QR Code’ competition. With Detroit pretty much done and dusted, it’s time for car makers to begin teasing their offerings for Geneva 2012 (which we saw some of even before Detroit). Today it’s the turn of Mercedes with a video tease for the 2012 Mercedes A-Class, coupled with a competition too (although that seems to be just for Germany).
