Springfield, Nebraska, United States
Condition:For parts or not working Placement on Vehicle:Left, Right, Front, Rear Warranty:No

For sale:  Collection of C3, 1968- 1973, Corvette Bumpers: 3 Fronts, 18 Left Rear, and 14 Right Rear (35 total).  These are being sold as one package.  I will not separate.  I am obviously looking for those that restore/rechrome bumpers or have a Corvette restoration shop.  They are the remains of several Corvette Salvage Yards here in the Midwest that are no longer in business.  There are no Chinese bumpers in this pile.  See my other listing for 1963 - 1967, C2 bumpers.

Condition:  Very Important to Understand.  These bumpers are being sold as CORES.  In my opinion, there are some driver quality bumpers in this pile but most need to be restored to show condition.  A few are bent, many are corroded, some have holes drilled in them, and some have some sort of combination of these issues.  Companies like the Bumper Boyz in California can save these bumpers and return them to show condition.  Some of the rears are good enough to simply send to a shop that does chroming.  But, many of these need to go to a shop that can also straighten and weld bumpers.  These are in better condition than the 1963 - 1967 bumper cores I have in another listing but are still being sold as cores.

Price: I am asking $35 each ($1,225) plus shipping.  The companies that sell restored bumpers require at least a $100 core charge each.  My best guess is that all of these would be accepted as cores by companies that specialize in restoring bumpers.  Obviously I can not guarantee that.

Shipping:  It would be best if they were picked up here in Nebraska (near Omaha).  I get a serious discount from UPS Freight and can get you a quote from them.  And, if paid for in advance, I will deliver free of charge to the Bloomington Gold Corvette Swap Meet in Indy that starts June 23.

One Lap of the Web: Jaguar F-Type, Baja 1000 and how the Mustang became Boss

Fri, 12 Apr 2013

We spend a lot of time on the Internet -- pretty much whenever we're not driving, writing about or working on cars. Since there's more out there than we'd ever be able to cover, here's our daily digest of car stuff on the Web you may not otherwise have heard about. -- Silodrome reminds us of a 1995 documentary called "Dust to Glory" on the Baja 1000 desert race.

Mini USA is taking longer than expected to select 450 lessees for its electric car because of the deluge of about 1,800 applicants. Drivers who are chosen are expected to get cars in April. The program originally had been expected to begin at the start of the year.
