In his new position van Hooydonk will be responsible for the design development for the BMW, Rolls-Royce and Mini brands. The Granturismo S makes this four-seat GT an altogether more hardcore proposition. A 4.7-litre V8 replaces the standard car’s 4.2; the ZF torque converter auto makes way for a six-speed automated manual shared with the Ferrari Scuderia; plus there’s a subtle aero kit, bigger brakes along with interior embellishments.

GM recalls 258,000 SUVs for fire hazard

General Motors is recalling a family of SUVs, including the Chevrolet TrailBlazer, GMC Envoy, Saab 9-7x, Buick Rainier and Isuzu Ascender, after reports of 28 fires caused by short circuits in the power windows and locks. The recalled SUVs are from model years 2006 and 2007. In total, GM estimates 258,000 vehicles will need repairs.
