ESP could save 380 lives a year

By Ben Shacham Motor Industry 19 June 2007 12:24 The campaign to make electronic stability control (ESC) standard on all new cars by 2012 is gathering momentum - and it could save 380 lives a year, say ministers. The UK's Department for Transport today claimed that hundreds of lives could be saved every year if all new cars had stability control fitted - totalling 4000 lives across Europe. A campaign to raise awareness of the potential benefits of ESC was launched last month in Rome by European commissioners and FIA president Max Mosley.

Unique cars, boats and planes land at Key Largo vintage weekend

The 17th-annual Vintage Weekend, held the first weekend in December, signifies the start of "the season" for Key Largo's Ocean Reef Club. Sure, it's a display of classic motor yachts and airplanes, but here the car is still star. Volkswagen has launched the new VW Golf GTI in the UK It was the car that started the Hot-Hatch fashion 36 years ago, and today VW announced that they are open for orders on the latest (sixth generation) Volkswagen Golf GTI. VW showed a ‘Concept’ of the Mk VI Golf GTI at last year’s Paris Motor Show but, as we expected, it wasn’t even thinly disguised – it’s pretty much as shown! Just like its siblings, the new GTI is really an evolutionary car rather than a revolutionary one.
