Top Gear to do ‘Economy’
Tue, 30 Dec 2008Don’t think for a minute that we’re going to lose the supercar stunts we know and love, and see them replaced by the charms of a Kia Cee’d economy run, but Top Gear, in common with the rest of the Beeb, is having its budget cut – apparently. Andy Wilman, who is the brains behind TG (and its producer) together with Jeremy Clarkson, has been bemoaning the budget cuts planned for the show on the TG website. Malaysian Grand Prix Qualifying: Hamilton grabs pole for Mercedes
Sat, 29 Mar 2014Lewis Hamilton takes pole in Malaysia in heavy rain Lewis Hamilton has secured his second pole position in two outings for Mercedes at the Malaysian Grand Prix – equaling Jim Clark’s record of 33 poles – as rain turned the Sepang track in to a lake. And with drivers quickly going on to full wets – and cars flying off the track as the rain took control of the qualifying sessions – the playing field was levelled, allowing Red Bull’s reigning World Champion, Sebastian Vettel, to almost pip Hamilton to pole, taking second place just 0.055s behind the Brit. Behind Vettel is the winner of the opening Australian Grand Prix, Nico Rosberg, in the second Mercedes, followed by the Ferrari of Fernando Alonso and the Red Bull of new boy Daniel Ricciardo – who was so impressive in Asutrali two weeks ago – taking fifth spot.
Mercedes CL63 AMG 2011: Official
Sun, 25 Jul 20102011 Mercedes CL63 AMG We had the first leak of the 2011 Mercedes CL AMG last month when we first saw the nips and tucks Mercedes had inflicted on what we thought was about to be renamed the S Class Coupe (which apparently won’t now happen until the next all new car in 2012/2013). That was followed up by the official reveal of the bog standard 2011 Mercedes CL500 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed earlier this month, with leaked photos of both the 2011 CL63 AMG and the CL65 AMG making an appearance a week later. Now we get the official deal from Mercedes on the CL AMG, with release this weekend of proper pictures and detail.
