Mercedes SLS AMG: F1 Safety Car 2010
Sat, 27 Feb 2010The Mercedes SLS AMG will be the F1 safety car in 2010 The new F1 season is close to kicking off, and we’ll get round to doing a preview of what’s happening at the start of the 2010 season once we’ve got Geneva out of the way (at least the first bit of Geneva - the F1 season starts on 14th March in Bahrain so we’ll need to get round to it before then). But one bit of news that isn’t team or driver related is the announcement that the safety car for 2010 will be the Mercedes SLS AMG, replacing the car that’s done the job for the last two years – the Mercedes SL63 AMG. Surprisingly, the SLS AMG is the most powerful car ever to be used as a safety car in F1.
Hennessey Venom GT2 to bring 1,500 hp
Mon, 26 Nov 2012Hennessey The Hennessey Venom GT2 will debut in late 2013 from Texas tuner Hennessey Performance Engineering. The already-bonkers Corvette-powered Lotus will now house a twin-turbocharged 7.0-liter V8 making an unthinkable 1,500 hp. Hennessey didn't reveal the weight but says that the Venom GT2 has more than one horse per 2.2 pounds (1 hp/kg).
Is the McLaren P1 order book about to close?
Mon, 28 Jan 2013We’re hearing that McLaren is ready to close the order book for their P1 supercar before the specification – or the car – have been fully revealed. We’ve had the reveal of the P1 Concept – and seen it floating round the world as McLaren drum up potential customers with enormous bottomless pockets – and we’ve even seen the P1 on the move as McLaren shake down the development version of the P1. But so far we haven’t had the full specs of the P1 revealed and, as far as we can tell, McLaren hasn’t even divulged the full details of the P1′s power and performance to potential customers – no matter how wealthy they are.
