VW XL1 (2013) 314mpg eco-car heads for production

VW supremo Ferdinand Piech has kept his promise of putting the XL1 super-eco car into production. VW has confirmed the 313mpg XL1 will be built in limited numbers, around 50 of which are earmarked for UK sale. It's an expensive way to save money on fuel though: projected prices for the XL1 run into six figures.

Next Hyundai Sonata introduced in Korea

Hyundai revealed its redesigned 2015 Sonata sedan in South Korea on Monday. Until now all we've seen are teaser shots of the company's second-best selling vehicle, which falls behind the smaller Elantra in sales by about 5,000 units per year. It will make its North American debut at the New York auto show in April.

Motorbikes 'surprise' car drivers

MOST CAR drivers are "caught by surprise" by the sudden appearance of motorbikes, according to a survey of more than 21,000 AA members. But as many as 40% of drivers reckon motorcyclists are inconsiderate, with London bikers appearing to be the least courteous. The AA/Populus survey showed that 57% of car drivers were often surprised when a motorcycle appeared from nowhere.
