This year, teams are split into two categories: Prototype and Grand Touring. The former are cars created specifically for endurance racing, the latter are homologated from road cars. Each category is then split into two further disciplines – one a higher performance grade, the other slightly lower.

Carfest dates announced for 2014

CHRIS EVANS has announced his popular Carefest shows will take place again in 2014, with dates confirmed as 1-3 August and 22-24 August. Hosted by the car-loving Radio 2 DJ, Carfest North on 1-3 August will be held at Oulton Park racing circuit in Cheshire. Three weeks later, Carfest South will take place at Laverstoke Park in Hampshire, owned by former Formula One World Champion Jody Scheckter, on 22-24 August.

Vast Private Collection To Go Under The Hammer

AN AUCTION of more than 1,000 lots all from the same collection is due to go under the hammer later this month. The collection belongs to Michael Banfield, who has amassed a huge collection covering the history of the car in the UK. Among the earliest cars for sale are a 1904 Mors Roi de Belges, which is in perfect working order, ready to be used and is estimated to make £500,000.
