Stillwater, Minnesota, United States
Here's a good condition original used pair of 1970 Challenger S.E. (hardtop) interior rear sail panel boards, with original felt-type of black material covering that the S.E. models used for their headliners and sail panels. These are all-original pieces, not any reproduction on anything. Both panels are in pretty decent condition, with good fiberboard and shape still. The right panel has a slight tear in material up near the to rear of, but you wont' notice it from the front with material on it. The metal bracket that holds center clip is missing on the right panel, but perfect still on the left panel. You'd have to put your old one on the right panel, or rig up something to hold to center clip on. The felt / velvet type black material is good, and is not stained, torn, or falling apart. Material is a little loose on the board, and should be reglued to hold on tightly. These are some tough panels to find, and not available in reproduction that I know of.

Up for your auction bids is this good condition original used pair of 1970 Challenger S.E. (hardtop) interior rear sail panels, with original black felt / velvet material covering. This style panels may have been used some in 1971 on Challenger S.E. models too, if they had the molded fiberboard headliner with felt material covering-- like this car did. I don't think that 1970-71 Barracuda Gran Coupe panels are the same shape as these Challenger ones.

Featured headliner sail panels for Challenger S.E. models have been stored away inside for many years. The boards are both overall pretty decent shape as these go out there for their age.  The left one has no damage to board, and has a nice shape metal clip bracket in rear center of board.  The right side board has good shape still, but does have a small tear up on the top rear edge of panel.  You won't see, or even feel it however once this panel is mounted due to the heavy felt / velvet material that covers it. The right panel is also missing the center metal bracket (on rear of panel, see last picture pointing to where it should be) for the attaching metal clip.  You may be able to replace this by taking one off your old panels (if you have them), or perhaps fabricating something and attaching it to panel. Felt / velvet fabric material on these panels is good, with no tears, stains, or bad fading.  The material has come a little loose in a few areas, so you likely would want to re-glue the material to fibrous boards to make look better.  With a little cleaning then, they should look good when mounted up.

These are some very tough sail panels to find for these cars, and ones that I don't think are available anywhere in reproduction either.  Be sure to put in those good bids today at my reasonable opening bid price on these.  My only pair like these!  Thanks for stopping in to look and bid!

Alluring Alfa Romeo falls far short of its promise

Mon, 26 Sep 2011

Few names can match the allure of Alfa Romeo. The sporty Italian brand is all about swooping lines, intoxicating engine noise, nimble road manners and the sexiest grille around. Alfa Romeo should be a bright Italian alternative to, say, Audi that stands out from the silver-gray herd of German luxury machines.

People's Car Project concepts showcased

Wed, 02 May 2012

Volkswagen is currently showcasing three of its vehicle and technology concepts created under the ‘People's Car Project' at this year's Beijing auto show. The Hover Car, the Music Car and the Smart Key concepts – created by users of the website, which has seen 33 million visitors – are just three of more than 119,00 ideas submitted, leading the project to be indefinitely extended as Volkswagen uses the findings to influence its future design strategy. The ‘Hover Car' is an environmentally friendly two-seater city car that, unsurprisingly, hovers above the ground.
