This is Caterham’s vision for the future of its car range: the AeroSeven concept. Dragging the Seven template into the 21st Century, the two-seater AeroSeven reportedly uses F1 knowhow in its design, and will launch to 62mph in less than four seconds. It’ll go on sale in production form in late 2014, two years before the Alpine-Caterham sports car deal comes to fruition.

In a public test of Marchionne's faith in his own turnaround strategy, in September Volkswagen Chairman Ferdinand Piech bluntly announced that he wants to buy Alfa Romeo. Ford's legendary Mustang turns 50

THE ICONIC Ford Mustang has reached its 50th birthday and the largest gathering of racing models ever in the UK is being planned to mark the occasion. More than 25 race-prepared Mustangs are being assembled for the Silverstone Classic event on 25-27 July. Among the cars entered for the race there are several famous models from the cars early days in the 1960s, as well as many that are regularly raced today in historic competitions.
