Condition:Remanufactured

You are bidding on a rare, very rare,  one year only matched set of #64, 1970, 455 HO GTO heads.  These are the only heads that will give you 10.25 compression on any 455.  These were only used one year and only on the GTO and some GP's and I have not seen another pair in many years.  The heads are D-Port design as opposed to the 71-72 round port head which was a 8.2:1 compression head.  These came from a friends car that showed 56,000 miles when he put #3 rod and piston through the block many years ago.  They have been gone through, oiled, bagged and sitting on my shelf for 6 years. Service included: sonic testing, hot tanking, examined for being straight and true but not milled.  They have a new stock valve job.  All the valves except one are original and were in perfect shape, guides knurled, springs tested, new seals, new freeze plugs.  These are real high performance heads for the 455.  They were both cast on Oct. 07, 1969 so they are fairly early and MATCHED.  If you need that special part for your restoration or want to kick your 455 up a few notches without busting the bank, this is your best choice.  Now, I will ship them but you must know that they are heavy and will be expensive.  I will build two boxes to ship them but I was recently hosed badly from UPS.  Understand that to ship them may cost you as much as $300.00 unless you have a better way.  Actual shipping charges will be determined after the sale based on your address.  Just so we all understand, I don't make the rates.  I recently sold a $60.00 part and had to pay $80.00 to ship it, I'm not going through that again.

Watch the sad, final moments of a crusher-bound heap

Mon, 07 Apr 2014

Automotive wrecking yards are good places to reflect on the real-world values of heavily depreciated vehicles versus global current scrap-metal prices, and to see which cars have suddenly had the fix-it-versus-total-it line moved by insurance companies (the early-21st-century Subaru Legacy Outback, for example, appeared in large numbers in high-turnover wrecking yards just during the last year, as fairly minor collision damage on these cars is no longer worth fixing). You'll see the things that a car's last owner does in a desperate attempt to sell (or at least live with) an increasingly decrepit heap (as we learned in "Repo Man," you really will find a Little Tree in every car). During a recent trip to a San Jose, Calif., yard, I encountered this sad yet strangely compelling scene.

Pride accolade for lollipop lady

Tue, 08 Oct 2013

A LOLLIPOP LADY who dived in front of an out-of-control car to push a group of children to safety has been honoured at an awards ceremony to celebrate the country's unsung heroes. Karin Williams, from Rhoose in the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales, won the prize at the Daily Mirror Pride of Britain Awards, but the mother-of-one insisted: "I'm not brave." The 50-year-old was given the trophy by actor and comedian James Corden at a star-studded event in central London. Describing the horrifying incident in which a 61-year-old driver lost control of his car, she said: "I don't remember pushing the children away.

Visiting Scaglietti: A look inside Ferrari's aluminum artistry

Mon, 31 Oct 2011

Carrozzeria Scaglietti should ring a bell for anyone familiar with famous Ferrari models old and new. Though it once was one of Italy's respected independent coachbuilding enterprises, the Modenese company is now wholly owned by Ferrari. It focuses on prototyping and building aluminum body structures for the 599 GTB Fiorano, the 458 Italia, the FF and the California.
