And for Saab and Victor Muller it has been a year or more of almost unbroken storms, punctuated with just the odd ray of financial sunshine as Victor Muller combs the planet for investors to stake a claim in his chocolate teapot company. There has been no production at Saab of any consequence since April; many suppliers still remain unpaid despite substantial injections of cash from Chinese buyers; wages have not been paid and now, just to rub salt in the wound, it’s been revealed that board members received pay rises of up to 650 per cent in 2010.

Nothing to get hugely excited about, although in addition to the new nose there were also a new set of engines. Having got the meat out of the way Skoda are now turning to the veg, with the announcement of the Skoda Rooomster GreenLine II and the Skoda Fabia Combi GreenLine II (snappy little names)to carry Skoda’s green credentials for the range.
2013 UK automotive sales highest since 2007

The 10.8% increase makes the UK the best performing market in Europe, exceeding its forecast by posting its highest sales figures since 2007. Top of the charts once again is the Ford Fiesta, which sold almost 13,000 additional units than in 2012, with its stablemate, the Ford Focus, graduating to the runner-up spot to push the Vauxhall Corsa third.
