Range Rover Sport revised for 2012

Range Rover has revised the Range Rover Sport for 2012 – and refinement is the name of the game. It has a new eight-speed auto ‘box and a host of toys including a new 17-speaker audio system and voice command. Land Rover may talk of a focus on reducing emissions, but ironically the supercharged 510bhp 5.0 petrol V8 remains unchanged.

The 2008 Autodesk European Automotive Days conference was held last week in Munich, bringing together 200 automotive design and visualization experts. Autodesk presented their strategy and vision for industrial design, with an emphasis on 'digital prototyping', where even at the concept stage the digital model is treated not just as a set of surfaces, but is integrated within the engineering process as as a functional digital prototype, with the aim to eventually replace physical models entirely. There was also a recognition that traditional techniques continue to have an important place alongside digital workflows, as the workflows and technologies continue to evolve.

Alfa Romeo 4C We had a stab at guessing what the Alfa Romeo 4C would be like once we knew it was likely that Alfa were taking the 4C – a baby Alfa 8C – to Geneva. But we didn’t have much to go on. If we’d guessed that the Alfa 4C would be, in almost every sense that matters, a scaled-down 8C we wouldn’t have been far wrong.
