Mercedes are continuing some innovative marketing for the new A Class with the #YOUDRIVE campaign launching during X Factor. That must have worked to a degree – certainly as far as the Twitter aspect goes – as Mercedes is having another outing with another hashtag – #YouDrive – and a new marketing campaign for the A Class where viewers ’control’ the advert they’re seeing. The McLaren P11 will be the first of McLaren Automotive's new cars in 2011 The whole road car business at McLaren is to be made an independent company – McLaren Automotive – and is aiming to produce 1,000 cars a year by 2011 and 4,000 a year by 2015. McLaren plans that the cars they produce will be more exclusive, and more expensive, than the competition from Italy. The ball will start rolling with the McLaren P11, a car aimed squarely at the F430/Gallardo market.

BMW Group Design has just revealed a revolutionary new concept car which utilizes a flexible textile cover to form its outer skin. Called the ‘GINA' Light Visionary Model - an acronym derived from the principle of Geometry and Functions In "N" (Infinite) Adaptions - the concept offers dramatically different solutions that affect the design and functionality of future cars. The almost seamless flexible textile cover that stretches across a moveable substructure has dispensed with the usual body elements found on production vehicles such as front apron, bonnet, side panels, doors, wheelarches, roof, trunk lid and rear deck.
