Hankook tire exec calls for global campaign to point out dangers of low tire pressure

Thu, 23 Sep 2010

Anyone driving a car today has certainly heard about the dangers of drinking and driving, and the use of a cell phone and texting while driving. Seung Hwa Suh, vice chairman and CEO of Hankook tires, is hoping more drivers will pay attention to the dangers of low tire pressure and driving. At The Tire Society's 29th Annual Meeting and Conference on Tire Science and Technology, Suh proposed that all tire manufacturers "jointly develop a global campaign for educating consumers about air pressure and the overwhelming benefits that we can all enjoy if we simply maintain proper inflation," he said.

Call for ban on on vehicle-side advertising

Thu, 08 May 2014

ALL ADVERTISING and promotional banners on commercial vehicles should be banned as they are distracting to other drivers and tempt them to use mobile phones while driving. This is the call from Flexed, a car leasing company, which has carried out a survey that shows a quarter (23%) of drivers admit to trying to type a website address into smartphone after seeing an advert on a lorry. A further 10% of drivers admitted they had tried to take a camera phone photo of an advertisement on a commercial vehicle to use later.

Japanese Grand Prix Qualifying: Webber takes pole for Red Bull

Sat, 12 Oct 2013

Japanese Grand Prix Qualifying: Webber takes pole for Red Bull It’s been a long time since Mark Webber took pole position in a Grand Prix, but luck was on the side of the seemingly perpetually unlucky Webber as a KERS problem took the edge of Vettel’s speed in Suzuka this morning. Webber ended up beating his team mate by 0.174 seconds to take his first pole of the 2013 F1 season and make this the first time he’s out qualified Vettel this year too. Behind the Red Bull pair, Lewis Hamilton took third place for Mercedes with Romain Grosjean giving Lotus a fourth place on the grid.
