Fri, 13 Apr 2012Mercedes A25 AMG will look very like Concept A - but with 5 doors The Mercedes A25 AMG with four wheel drive, 335bhp and a twin-clutch ‘box is confirmed for launch in 2013. We’ve talked about a hot version of the new Mercedes A Class almost since Mercedes debuted the Concept A on which the new A Class is based. Back then we speculated – thanks to input from Top Gear – that the AMG version of the new A Class would get 4WD and 350bhp from a turbo 4-pot.
Mercedes A Class production outsourced
Tue, 24 Jul 2012Mercedes is outsourcing some new A Class production as orders continue to flood in for Mercedes’ new compact car. Last week we had the news that Mercedes will be building new A Class compact SUV – the Mercedes GLA – at the Mercedes plant in Rastatt as production of the A Class kicked off. But despite the new A Class being built at both Rastatt and the Mercedes plant in Kecskemet, Hungary, Mercedes don’t have enough capacity for the volume of order flooding in for the new A Class – over 40,000 since it went on sale just over a month ago.
Global Automotive Forum hosts designer roundtable meeting in Chengdu, China
Wed, 19 Oct 2011The second Global Automotive Forum took place last week in the Jiaozhi international conference center in Chengdu, one of the most important economic and transportation centers in Western China. The two-day event was based around the theme of 'Crossing from Producing to Innovation Country' and was attended by more than 80 people from the global automotive industry. While most of the sessions revolved around the greater automotive industry in China, Car Design News was asked to organize a session of the forum centered on design, which included a 'roundtable meeting' for designers.
