General Motors Co. says a bid for Opel from Magna International faces hurdles while a rival offer from Belgian investor RHJ International would be easier to accept. Writing on GM Europe's Web site, John Smith, GM's chief negotiator for the Opel sale, says Magna's bid "contained elements around intellectual property and our Russian operations that simply could not be implemented." Hyundai recalls Santa Fe, Veracruz for airbag fix

Hyundai is recalling 205,233 copies of the 2007-2008 Santa Fe and Veracruz because of an issue with the airbags. Hyundai has received about 7,800 warranty claims as a result of airbag defects in these vehicles, though the carmaker said it is not aware of any related accidents or injuries. Electrical parts used to deploy the airbags may conduct current improperly, causing them to malfunction during a crash.
