Up for auction is a pair of tail light lenses and frames for a 1977-79 Continental Mark V.  These were removed from my 1977 Mark V Cartier around 1990 when the previous owner had the car repainted and various other things done to the car.  At the time he also replaced many trim pieces on the car with new old stock, including these tail lights.  They had appx. 13 years of use and were then put in storage afterwards, which I also did since I bought the car in 2006.  To further gauge the use on these, I purchased the car with a little over 52,000 miles, though when he did the repaint/freshening and pulled these, the car probably had mileage in the upper 40k's.

All is in very good overall condition, with the only more notable wear being on the small bit of the frames that wraps to their inner side by the trunk, with one of these being better in this regard than the other.  I did not have time to polish the frames with metal polish, but I did quickly clean the lenses with Novus, and went over the metal with the excess plastic polish on my applicator to clean off anything on the surface.  The lenses have light wear overall, still looking shiny and unfogged.

Shipping is via USPS Priority Mail large flat rate box.

Please write with any questions, including if you need more pictures.  I ship worldwide.  This is a 3 day auction.

Please also see my other Lincoln Mark V parts for sale, including more to be listed soon.

Thanks for your interest.  Good luck.

Project Car Hell, Fix It Again (and Again and Again) Tony Edition: 124 Sport Spider or Strada?

Fri, 04 Apr 2014

Is it possible for a car to be too horrible even for Project Car Hell? Given the fact that, in the past, we've made you choose between a Hurricane Sandy-immersed Aston Martin Lagonda and a similarly flooded GAZ-21 Volga, you might think the answer to that question would be an emphatic no. Why, even last week we threatened you with eternal Simca damnation!

Set sail in the Fiat 1100 Boat Car by Carrozzeria Coriasco

There are a few ways to tackle the problem of wanting to have a boat and a car but only having the space (or budget) for one vehicle. You could go the Amphicar route and end up with a so-so car that's also a so-so boat (bail-out buckets of charm though!). If budget permits, you could pick up a Quadski, but that doesn't give you the comfort of an enclosed cabin.
