1978-79 Lincoln Mark V Diamond Jubilee/collector's Series Map Pocket Panels on 2040-parts.com

Condition:Used

This listing is for a pair of restored map pocket panels located on back of the front seats for a 1978 Diamond Jubilee Edition or 1979 Collector's Series Mark V with bucket seats.  The last picture show a seat with the typical scratches and chips in the original finish.  The second to last picture shows an original unrestored panel next to the decal used for the restoration.  These parts are shown for reference only and are not included - the two restored panels only.

The material is a 3M vinyl that is used mainly for exterior automotive wraps.   It is designed to be UV-fade resistant, durable, and flexible; able to follow most any shape.  It has the correct matte finish, great detail, and looks terrific...just like the original.  I have a separate listing for just the decals, if you prefer to do the work yourself.    The panels are sanded to remove most of the original material, and some filler is used to smooth out imperfections before carefully applying the decal and wrapping the edges for a great looking and durable result.  Close-ups show some small imperfections remaining in the surface flatness, overall appearance is excellent.

The backing on the panels is originally stapled to the seat backs, and then the metal panel that holds the woodgrain pattern is glued to the backing.   When removing your panels, you'll be pulling out those staples with the metal plate and backing piece still attached to each other.   Use just about any sort of adhesive to easily reattached the restored panels.  3M multipurpose adhesive "Number 77" in a spray can works great.

Feel free to contact me any time with questions.  I will also consider doing the restoration work for you if you prefer.

More kits are available specifically for the Lincoln Mark V;  driver's instrument cluster cover, passenger side dash panel over the glove box, left and right seat/window switch housings, ashtray lids.  There are also similar kits available for the Continental / Town Coupe / Town Car vehicles.  Please check out my other similar listings;  I always combine parts for best shipping cost.

Thanks!

Lamborghini Huracan Driving Simulator goes live on Lamborghini’s site

Sat, 22 Mar 2014

Lamborghini’s driving simulator for the Huracan (pictured) The Gallardo’s long-awaited replacement – the Lamborghini Huracan – finally arrived just before Christmas after a long and tedious tease. But it was worth the wait and putting up with Lamborghini’s feeble attempts at a viral tease. With looks that draw the Huracan in to the family design of the Aventador, permanent 4WD and 602bhp from its 5.2 litre V10, the Huracan promises a decent fight for the Ferrari 458 and McLaren 12C (or should that be the McLaren 650S?) with 0-62mph in 3.2 seconds and over 200mph.
