Peugeot Expands 308 Range With Load-Lugging SW
Fri, 21 Feb 2014HOT on the heels of the arrival of its 308 family hatchback, Peugeot has unveiled its new 308 wagon. The 308 SW will get its public debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month, with cars hitting the showrooms this summer. Offering the same minimalist driving environment as the hatch, complete with a large colour touchscreen for access to the car’s main features, the SW also includes a wide range of fuel-efficient petrol and diesel engines.
CDN-GM Interactive Competition: Phase 2 deadline extended until Sunday 28 September
Fri, 26 Sep 2014Due to the number and quality of the entries that are still pouring in we've extended the deadline for this phase of the CDN-GM Interactive Design Competition to give you a couple more days to upload your work. Remember that during this phase, while your design needn't be fully finalized, you should be firming up your major themes based on your Phase 1 work and the feedback comments from the Mentors and your peers. The entrants progressing to Phase 3 will be announced next week for the final phase of this year's contest ahead of the announcement of the winners in January.
Ford Fiesta eWheelDrive gets wheel hub electric motors
Sat, 27 Apr 2013The Ford Fiesta eWheelDrive – a driveable research vehicle built by Ford and German specialists Schaeffler – may be a regular supermini in size, but it points towards a potential future EV which is much more compact and very manoeuvrable. Ford has taken a regular Fiesta and dumped its powertrain, replacing it with a battery bank where the engine would be and fitted a pair of in-hub electric motors on the rear wheels. But the plan is to build new cars with the batteries under the floor which frees up the space under the bonnet which can then be all but removed to create a very compact urban car that still has space for four.
