GM closes UK Advanced Design Studio

CDN has learnt that General Motors is closing its UK Advanced Design Studio as part of its ongoing restructuring program. Clay Dean, GM's executive director of advanced global design and Cadillac's brand director, arrived at the studio on 4 August to announce the closure to staff. The UK studio, which opened in 1999, was predominantly involved in the creation of Cadillac concept cars and was originally planned to be a short-term confidential operation as the smallest of GM's design studios.

Google hopeful over driverless car

GOOGLE says it has turned a corner in its pursuit of a car that can drive itself. The leader of the technology giant's driverless car project wrote in a blog post that test vehicles are becoming far more adept at city driving. They can already comfortably handle motorways, he said, but city driving presents a virtual obstacle course of pedestrians, cyclists and blind corners.

Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 Roadster arrives next week

The Roadster version of Lamborghini’s LP700-4 Aventador will be revealed in Miami next week and debut at the Los Angeles Motor Show. But the wait for the Aventador Roadster is now just about over with the news that Lamborghini will be debuting their open-topped Aventador at the Los Angeles Motor Show later this month.
