Volkswagen has revealed plans to invest $7 billion (£4.2 billion) in North America, with the launch of a new SUV in 2016. The midsize SUV will take Volkswagen towards it goal of selling 1 million cars a year stateside by 2018. Koenigsegg are in the running to take over Saab Saab were given Swedish Government protection recently (similar to Chapter 11) to try and find a suitor or funding to operate independently. Of course they can’t do that completely, at least not in the short term, as they are so tied in to GM’s platforms on their current and soon to be released cars. But Saab has a strong – if quirky – history and, with the right backing, could stand alone as a niche maker of aesthetically individual cars.

Jaguar XF Sportbrake

The Jaguar XF Sportbrake – the first ever offical Jaguar wagon – has been unveiled less than a week before its debut at the Geneva motor show. Everything from the B-pillar backwards is new compared to the XF sedan, included the extended DLO accent that's highlighted by the gloss black D-pillars, reminiscent of the XJ sedans'. The Sportbrake's overall length grows by only 5mm to 4,966mm, while its weight increases by less than 70kg.
