Bugatti 16C Galibier – back in Black
Tue, 16 Mar 2010The Bugatti 16C Galibier in Black The Bugatti 16C Galibier came to our attention back in September at the time of the Frankfurt Motor Show, although it wasn’t on the floor at the show. Bugatti claimed it to be just a concept; a way of judging opinion about the next car in the Bugatti line. That’s not a line we ever took seriously.
2012 Volvo S60 & XC60 R-Design get more oomph
Thu, 21 Apr 2011Volvo V60 R-Design - finally, more get up and go We’re quite partial to the Volvo S60 (actually, we’re even more partial to the Volvo V60) and we like how Volvo’s R-Design pack makes a real impact without making the car look like a boy racer’s wet dream. What’s also nice – in this age of parsimony – is that even if you opt for a lowly diesel version you can still have a Volvo that looks like it gets there in a hurry, even if it doesn’t. But our preference is always for a bit more power, especially if all the visual cues make you smile in anticipation, so we have been know to bemoan the lack of any sort of power boost – even as an add-on option – on Volvo’s R-Design cars.
US DoT makes rear-view cameras compulsory
Tue, 03 Jun 2014The US Department of Transportation (DoT) has issued a new safety standard for rear visibility that requires mandatory fitment of rear-view cameras. The ruling applies to all new vehicles, excluding motorcycles, weighing under 10,000 pounds (4,536kg) sold from 2018. The ruling has been introduced to cut backover crashes, caused when the victim strays into the blind zone 10-40 feet (3-12m) behind the vehicle that the driver can't see using their mirrors alone.
