BMW i3 revealed: The BMW Megacity lives
Fri, 29 Jul 2011BMW i3 Revealed - on sale in 2013 The BMW i8 – also revealed today – may be BMW’s answer to a supercar with a conscience for the 21st century, but the other end of the scale is the BMW solution to city mobility – the BMW i3. Known as the Megacity Vehicle – at least until BMW gave us all the detail of the i3 and i8 a few months ago – the BMW i3 is an upright box with a choice of pure electric or range-extender powertrains and is – in size – somewhere between the MINI and the current 1-Series. Just like the i8, the BMW i3 has a predominantly aluminium chassis and a body made of CFRP so it’s reasonably light for an EV (1270kg) and should be nimble thanks to its low centre of gravity which, just like the i8, is due to its batteries and the other heavy stuff sitting low down.
Range Rover LRX announced
Thu, 24 Sep 2009The Range Rover LRX will debut in 2010 and go on sale in 2011 We last reported on the Land Rover LRX last month, when it became pretty clear that Land Rover are pushing ahead with the project after receiving some Government funding for the LRX Concept in March. And it seemed that they were planning to show the RR LRX in June next year – 40 years on from the first showing of the original luxury off-roader – the Range Rover – in 1970. That now seems to be confirmed, with Land Rover stating the LRX will debut next year and go on sale in 2011.

Called the EN-V – an acronym for Electric Networked-Vehicle – the Xiao (Laugh), Jiao (Pride) and Maio (Magic) models embody different characteristics for future transportation. The Jiao (top image) was designed at GM Europe while the Miao (bottom left) was created at GM's Advanced Design Studio in California, and the Xiao (bottom right) was designed by GM Holden's design team in Australia.
